How am I able to achieve greater results in the search engines when my competitors cannot?
Fact: SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is an ongoing process that involves dedication to watching what the engine algorithms are doing and adjusting keywords, meta tags, and site descriptions to be more friendly and relevant to changes in the algorithm.
Fiction: If someone tells you thy have a unique "one-of-a-kind" technology that will get you number one placement in the search engines, they are LYING!!!! No one can guarantee top placement, other than paid for placement through either google or yahoo pay-per-click systems.
What I've learned over the years.
Many so called SEO Experts still use many of the frowned upon "Black Hat SEO" techniques or Spamdexing that can get you banned from the search engines. Black Hat SEO is still popular because it can quickly get you to the top of the search engines and keep you there for several weeks or longer before someone on the search engines flags the site for removal. Even then, sites banned from the search engines, typically recover their placement in a few months. So, while the consequence of Black Hat SEO can result in getting banned, it is typically short term. However, the traffic generation from Black Hat SEO can generate enough revenue for some sites that it is worth the risk of getting banned by the search engines.
Therefore, many of the competitor's locally are using some of these techniques to boost their page rankings and positioning in the search engines. However, the search engines are beginning to reward White-Hat SEO sites by giving them higher placed traffic and search positioning. Thus, while some sites might show higher in the search engines (typically from black hat seo), Whit Hat SEO sites typically show more often in more categories.
