I started Karate in the fall of 2007.  This is a summary of my progress to date.

Early winter 2008 (January).  I hurt my knee in Karate and missed about 6 weeks while healing.  After the knee injury, which was not permanent I sustained the following minor injuries.  Broken toes (Big Toe, twice and pinky toe, jammed about 6 times).  Far too numerous bruises and contusions to count.  Most recently, I hurt my hip and tendons caused by a snapping hip injury when I tried three techniques in sequence of a crescent kick to the head, round-house (left lead leg) and followed up with a spin back-kick and then POP!!!!  My hip hurt like nobody's business!  It took me 2-4 weeks to heal.  With stretching and Ibuprofen, I was able to keep up with the class.

I am currently a 6th que belt (green) and will be testing soon for my 5th que promotion (green with white stripe).

Since Karate, I have dramatically improved my health and stammina.  While I am still not dropping the weight, I have begun a body transformation and my pants and clothes all fit better.  Basically, I'm turning my blubber into muscle.

One of the things I love most about Karate.... Getting to burn out my aggressions on other people.  It has helped me to mellow out at work and focus more attention to details and take stress in stride.  And, if I have a bad day, I get to look forward to Karate and opening up a can of "Whoop A#!" on someone.
