Who’s Developing Your Site?

Life is perfect!  You’re on your way to fortunes and self employment in the world of Online Ownership…. You’ve just contracted your first website with a local developer/web design company and the price is too hard to believe.  You’re so happy that they beat another competitor by more than 50%.  Soon, you’ll be surfing your way to new clients and a new revenue stream.  Unfortunately, so will your webmaster!

A disturbing trend is popping up all across America… Off shoring!  Many individuals with no computer/web development experience are getting in the game and offering/promoting web development services and then subcontracting the work out to individuals in China, India, Pakistan, Russia and other countries where developers are willing to work for $8.00 per hour or less.  Great Deal!  So what’s the problem?  The problem is that many people outside of the United States don’t share our same ethical business practices.  Even more concerning is the chance that an Alkida operative could be behind the operations and could be funneling funds from your client’s accounts into terrorism sponsored accounts to launch additional attacks against the United States.  While this scenario can’t absolutely be proven it can’t be disproven nor should it be ignored.  The fact is, that nearly 20% of India’s population is Muslim and the rest of the host countries might have a population of individuals who would wish to do harm against the United States and it’s citizens.  There is no perfect way than by having access to US based websites that accept credit card and client information.  There is the chance that Terrorists have not yet clued in on the web design industry as a front for obtaining people’s identity and credit card information, but there is always the chance they will.

So, the next time you contract a web site with someone in the United States, ask them who develops their sites… an internal employee or is it subcontracted.  If it is subcontracted, ask them if you can meet the designer or speak via phone to them in person.  If they tell you the work is outside of the United States, try to get as much information about the company as possible.  Check with the Better Business Bureau to locate similar agencies in other countries to learn more about their laws and code of ethics in business.  If you continue to do business with a company that outsources to countries like China, India, Pakistan or Russia, you might be getting more than you bargain for.  You might be a host sponsor for the next generation of Terrorists.
